Our Strength is Fellowship; Our Success is Participation.
November Speaker, Mayor Yvonne Hamlin
As Mayor, my priorities include: increasing affordable housing for people who work in Collingwood, ensuring respectful development, and creating a sustainable and livable Town for our residents. I would like to enhance communications, including increasing opportunities for residents to hear about things Council are discussing and to ask questions about matters that mean the most to them.
Prior to being elected, I practiced as a senior lawyer in the municipal law field for 27 years and chaired the Canadian Property Tax Association.
His obituary Is on the News Page.
Bob was our Audio/Visual maestro for many years. Without our audio/visual presentation, our meetings would be entirely different!
John’s professional background was in the field of chemical engineering. This led to six and a half years working for Dow Chemical in Sarnia.
The next thirty years or so were spent in Toronto in
construction materials, advanced insulation etc., along with Management Consulting.
Not one to retire completely, John is busy as a sought after handyman. John moved to Collingwood in 2023.
His leisure time is filled with golf, skiing and especially, hiking and backpacking.
John has skied at over sixty seven different venues.
John along with his wife have hiked and backpacked around North America, Europe and as far East as base camp on Mount Everest in the Himalayas.
And not to be overlooked, he sings in a number of local choirs!
Another great story. Thanks John for sharing.
Bob over the years has been the epitome of a Probus member’s involvement in the organization.
Bob has filled virtually every position that Probus has to offer over the years.
From our Club, local director for Probus Canada and finally Probus Canada President, he has done it all, finally finishing as our much appreciated Social Events Chair.
All this while dealing with an unfair amount of physical duress!
Eric Pahapill is taking over the reins of the Social Events portfolio.
Thank you Bob for your many years of service on behalf of your fellow members!
