Microplastics in Our Water
David is an entrepreneur who has spent his career in environmental and high tech industries. He was part of the creation of the UV Index in Canada, the United States and Australia addressing public education on the cancer-causing dangers of and solutions to the ozone hole. David and his team designed and manufactured high-tech, solid state atmospheric monitoring instruments used by researchers in over 20 countries around the world. That work had a significant impact in raising public awareness and reducing harmful ozone destroying emissions and now, twenty-five years later, the ozone layer is recovering.

Biking Season begins in May and continues throughout the Summer.

Plans are for weekly events.

We meet at the east side of the Collingwood Canadian Tire Parking lot and depart sharp at 10am. When we finish the ride we typically stop for a lunch. A few days prior to the ride an email will go out to those who have signed up at the monthly Probus General Meeting confirming the routing and the meeting location. (On occasion we may not meet at the Canadian Tire so we would encourage you to add your name to the list of riders so that you will receive the email notifications. ) If weather is a problem an email is sent out prior to 9am on Mondays advising of a cancellation.

mpossible Metals is an innovative start-up company founded in 2020 with a mission to deliver responsible seabed mining and refining of critical battery metals, enabling the world’s transition to sustainable energy. As mining continues to play a vital role in a circular economy, the transition to green energy demands more minerals. In the face of this demand, responsible seabed mining will contribute to a truly sustainable transition to circularity.
Impossible Metals was co-founded by Oliver Gunasekara, an entrepreneur with 30-plus years of experience, and Jason Gillham, a subsea technology entrepreneur with 18 years of experience in the subsea robotics industry. The company is developing technology in two key areas: Selective harvesting of marine minerals and mineral processing using bacterial respiration. Impossible Metals is building underwater robotics vehicles which collect polymetallic nodules from the seabed while protecting the seafloor ecosystem. The polymetallic nodules are rocks that are rich in critical battery metals, such as nickel, cobalt, manganese and copper, which are the most expensive parts of electric vehicles.
